Kate Hargreaves [aka CorusKate Design] (she|her) is a graphic designer, writer, and roller derby skater working in Windsor, Ontario, where she specializes in book cover design. She has typeset and designed dozens of books in a variety of genres, as well as posters, logos, advertisements and promotional merchandise. Kate won second prize in the 2016 Alcuin Book Design Awards for Lost Animal Club (which featured one of her cats, Winn). Lost Animal Club also won the 2017 Alberta Book Publishing Awards cover prize. Kate won the 2014 CBC Bookie Award for Best Canadian Book Cover for Cynthia Flood's Red Girl Rat Boy (Biblioasis), and an honourary mention in the 2014 Alcuin Book Design Awards for David Mason's The Pope's Bookbinder (Biblioasis). Quill & Quire chose her cover for Kevin Hardcastle's collection Debris
(Biblioasis) as one of the best Canadian book covers of 2015, and her cover for How to Draw a Rhinoceros (BookThug) was one of CBC's Best 12 CanLit Book Covers of 2016.
Kate is the author of a book of poetry, Leak (Book*hug, 2014), with a second poetry collection, tend, forthcoming from Book*hug in Fall 2022. She has published a series of prose vignettes, Talking Derby (Black Moss, 2013), and her first young adult novel Jammer Star was released by Orca in Spring 2019. Her poetry has been published in literary journals and anthologies across Canada and the U.S., and she has contributed journalistic work to a variety of publications. Kate was named Windsor's best writer of 2015 by readers of the Windsor Independent and was a runner-up in IFOA and Now Toronto's 2015 Battle of the Bards.
